Né(e) le 12 Mai 1966 à Vancouver, Columbie Britannique (Canada)
Après des études de philosophie et d'économie à l'Université de Victoria au Canada, Deborah Unger est la première Canadienne à être acceptée à l'Institut National australien d'Arts dramatiques. Diplômé en 1988, elle obtient un rôle dans la mini-série Bangkok Hilton avec Nicole Kidman.
Elle tourne son premier film, Prisoners of the Sun, l'année suivante. Après deux autre films en Australie, elle est à l'affiche du thriller américain de Christopher Crowe, Intimes Confessions, puis de la série de David Lynch, Hotel Room. Mais, c'est le film controversé Crash de son compatriote David Cronenberg, qui révèle sa sensualité et son goût des extrêmes.
Ainsi, parallèlement à des films de série B tels que Highlander III ou No Way Home, elle interprète des rôles plus complexes dans des films indépendants (Signs & Wonders ou The Week-end) ou des productions ambitieuses en costumes (Sunshine). Elle apparaît également dans quelques longs métrages hollywoodiens tels que The Game, Hurricane Carter ou Payback.
